Tecno introduced its latest gaming smartphone, the Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, Spain on February 26. Developed by the Transsion Holdings subsidiary, this device boasts a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, supporting up to 12GB of RAM. The Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G is equipped with a robust 6,000mAh battery that supports 70W charging. It features Dolby Atmos spatial sound, and its triple rear camera system is led by an impressive 108-megapixel primary sensor.
The Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G is set to launch in markets including India, Philippines, and Saudi Arabia by the end of February, with pricing details expected closer to the release date. Availability will extend to Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America in the following months. The device will be offered in Comet Green and Meteorite Grey finishes, serving as a successor to last year’s Tecno Pova 5 Pro, which was priced at Rs. 14,999 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
In terms of specifications, the Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G runs on HiOS 14 and features a 6.78-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is certified by TUV Rheinland for low blue light emissions and boasts a hole punch cutout for the selfie camera. Powered by a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, the device offers 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, expandable virtually up to 24GB. It incorporates thermal management with a 2,7342mm cooling area, an e-sports pro operation engine, and 4D vibration sense for gaming.
The camera setup includes a triple rear configuration with a remarkable 108-megapixel primary sensor, while the front houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera with LED flash. Notably, the Pova 6 Pro 5G is the first Tecno handset to support Dolby Atmos spatial sound. It features dynamic MiniLED lighting on the rear panel with 210 LEDs customizable for various scenarios such as calls, power status, gaming, and music. The device is backed by a 6,000mAh battery supporting 70W charging and 10W reverse charging. The fast charging technology promises a 50 percent charge in 20 minutes and a full charge in 50 minutes. The battery is claimed to provide over 11 hours of gaming, more than 14 hours of video streaming, and over 31 hours of calling time on a single charge. With a thickness of 7.88mm and a weight of 195 grams, the smartphone offers a compelling combination of power and portability.
